Spokes Trainees begin their Level 1 Bicycle Maintenance Course

Spokes is running their first MIAS Level 1 Bicycle Maintenance Course for a group of trainees! 

The course began on Friday 24th September and is expected to last over 5 weeks, however the content will be delivered tailored to the speed of an individual’s learning as Levon Pegg, Spokes Manager is also a MIAS accredited Tutor and leads the course. 

Each week the trainees will receive a mixture of classroom and practical learning to gain a deeper understand of how to build customers bikes independently. The content will be conveyed in ways that suit individual’s style of learning to ensure a thorough understanding and the course is assessed from practical work.

Levon said, “We are very proud of our first cohort of trainees who are undertaking an industry accredited course. This will be a huge accomplishment for each trainee individually and we hope it gives them a much-deserved confidence boost and provides motivation to continue the great work they do at Spokes. The course has got off to a fantastic start and each person is getting stuck-in and and showing great potential to pass their Level 1. We hope to continue running courses at different levels within Spokes so that all our trainees can gain qualifications and as a result work towards independence.” 

Spokes are planning Level 3 Bicycle Maintenance Course will be starting towards the end of the year for staff, volunteers and two trainees.
